Easy Last Minute Halloween Treats // Lulus Wonderland

Happy Halloween everyone!! Today I'm bringing you a couple of super easy last minute treats for you or your trick or treaters. Most of the ingredients you should already have but I did buy a ready mix cake to make things even easier. I also had gluten free chocolate in my cupboard but you can use any chocolate you wish. First up:

Frankenstein Cake Pop Heads
(Can be made gluten free)
What you'll need:
Betty Crocker cake mix, 3 eggs, vegetable oil, water, pretzel sticks, dark chocolate, white chocolate, cream cheese, green food colouring, paper straws & zip lock bag. Large bowl for the cake mix, small bowl to melt the chocolate, whisk, spoon and a baking tray.
  • Follow the instructions as per the cake mix and bake for 20 minutes or until the cake is springy and a cocktail stick comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
  • Once its cold crumble it all up, rubbing it between your hands into a large bowl. Add 1/4 cup of the cream cheese and mix it all together. Use as much or as little cream cheese as you like. I just used a small bit because the cake is already moist. (I hate that word haha!)  It should look like chocolate dough once all combined.
  • Take small portions and roll into balls, place them onto a tray/plate and do this until you've used up all of the mixture. Place into the fridge to firm up slightly.
  • Meanwhile break up the white chocolate into a small microwavable bowl and pop in the microwave for 1 minute, stirring half way through until all the chocolate is melted. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the cake pops from the fridge and cut some paper straws in half. Dip one end into the melted chocolate and pop into the cake pop. Do this to each one and add back in the fridge for about 10 minutes. This is to make sure when you go to dip each cake ball into the green chocolate, the cake wont drop off!
  • Add a few drops of green food colouring to the white chocolate. I added about 3-4 drops so it was a pale green shade but please do add more if you wish a darker shade!
  • After 10 minutes remove the cake pops from the fridge and dip each one into the green chocolate. Tap the straw on your wrist to remove any excess as you don't want too much or you'll end up with puddles on the tray. Do this process to all the cake pops and place back onto the baking tray.
  • Chop your pretzel sticks to create his 'bolts' and pop them each side of his 'head'. Pop them back into the fridge for 20-30 minutes for the chocolate to set completely.
  • Now melt you dark chocolate and let it cool as before. Then pop into the zipped lock bag and twist to look like a piping bag or use piping bags if you have them! Now get your cake pops out from the fridge. Snipe the end of the zip lock bag and drip the 'hair' onto each pop as desired. These don't need to look super neat so let the chocolate melt down the sides. After all Frankenstein's hair was never neat right?! Add 2 dots for eyes and lines for his mouth. You can do different smiles on each or leave a few blank like I did.
  • Pop them back into the fridge one last time and set for about 15 minutes.

Voila! Your awesome Frankenstein cake pops!!

Now you should have left over chocolate so I'm showing you how to use it all up and not let it go to waste. Plus if anyone is gluten free this is a great treat for them. You shall need just a few other bits for this super easy treat.

Halloween Bark
(gluten free)
What you'll need:
Left over melted chocolate, sprinkles, edible glitter, baking tray/sheet & a spatula
  • Place some baking paper onto a baking tray and pore the green chocolate onto the paper, spreading with the spatula making sure its covered and evenly spread out. Pop into the fridge for 10 minutes
  • Remove from the fridge and using the left over dark chocolate in the zip lock bag, drizzle over the green chocolate. I just zig zagged in all different directions. Whilst its still wet add you desired sprinkles and edible glitter. I didn't have any 'halloween' coloured sprinkles but used what I had in my cupboard.
  • Pop back into the fridge for 1 hour until its completely solid. Very important! This would be great if you're busy prepping for a Halloween party as you can just leave it as long as you can.
  • Remove from the fridge and break the bark into pieces and you're done.

Super easy and all ready for those trick or treaters! You can add a handful into little cellophane bags or just use a bowl like I did to share around. Overall timing for both was about a couple of hours or if you don't have time to do the cake pops just make the bark!

I hope these come in handy and I've made it easy for you to follow. I took inspiration from Rachel Mets most recent Halloween youTube videos. You totally need to check her out, shes awesome!! Let me know if you make any of them :) Tag me on Instagram @lulus_wonderland or @campbellcrafts as we'd love to see them!!

Have a spooky Halloween everyone and stay safe!
